Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is TapTalks?

TapTalks is Calgary's premier intellectual event series that combines fascinating 45-minute presentations with social networking in the city's best venues. Think TED talks meets happy hour - where curious minds gather to explore big ideas over craft drinks.

What's the format of a typical TapTalks event?

Each event features a 45-minute presentation by an expert speaker, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session. After the formal presentation, attendees mingle and continue conversations over drinks. Events typically run from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM on weeknights.

Where do TapTalks events take place?

We partner with Calgary's finest local breweries, cafes, and theatres including Born Brewing, Bridgeland Distillery, Best of Kin Social, cSPACE, and many more. Each venue is carefully selected for its atmosphere, acoustics, and ability to foster both focused listening and casual conversation.

Who attends TapTalks events?

Our audience consists of curious professionals, entrepreneurs, academics, and lifelong learners aged 25-45. Attendees value intellectual discourse and are looking to expand their knowledge while connecting with like-minded individuals in Calgary's community.

How much do tickets cost and what's included?

The tickets range in price depending on who the speaker is and when the customer buys a ticket. Each talk includes the presentation, Q&A session, and networking time. Some venues offer drink specials for attendees. Early bird pricing and season passes are occasionally available for our email subscribers.

How can I become a speaker at TapTalks?

We're always looking for passionate experts who can share compelling ideas. Submit a speaker application by contacting hey@taptalks.ca with your talk idea, background, and why it would resonate with our audience. We review applications monthly and prioritize diverse perspectives and engaging presentation styles.
